Lynn Francis, 98, served war years with Women s Royal Canadian Naval Service
Lynn Francis was one of the oft-overlooked Canadian veterans of the Second World War.
Francis, who died Oct. 11, 2020, at 98, was born Dorothy Evelyn Hammet a later Glenlawn Collegiate grad who grew up in St. Vital.

At 82, Lynn Francis re-took her oath of citizenship at a citizenship renewal session presided by the Citizenship Judge Arthur Miki held by the United Empire Loyalists Association. The ceremony marked Flag Day in Canada and brought 10 people to the ceremony- Feb 15, 2004
On Nov. 19, 1942, as a 20-year-old, she enlisted with the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service, a section of the Royal Canadian Navy.
