On Sunday around 3:30 a.m., Pettis County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of Meadowood Drive. The driver, Gabriella Pascual was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. During the stop, the rear passenger, identified as Kayla L. Leach, took off running from the vehicle. She reportedly dropped several items on the ground as she ran. Deputies submitted charges of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
An autopsy was conducted on a Pettis County Jail inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell Dec. 7. Preliminary results of the autopsy, conducted at the Boone County Medical Examiner s Office in Columbia, discovered that James Smith, Jr., died from aterioscolerosis, thrombosis and aging myocardial infarction. Smith also had a large blood clot in one of his coronary arteries. A final pathology report is expected to take 16 to 20 weeks to become availab
