Mines Women fall to Mountaineers
GUNNISON, Colo. A late three-pointer from the Mountaineers quelled a late rally as the South Dakota Mines women’s basketball team fell to Western Colorado University, 77-69, Tuesday night during the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference quarter finals in Gunnison, Colorado.
Trailing by 10 points to start the fourth quarter, 59-49, the Hardrockers erased that deficit, going on a 10-0 run and tied the post-season opening game, 59-59, with 6:38 remaining in the contest.
It proved to be a back-and-forth battle from there, The Mountaineers was able regain the lead and pulled out to a seven-point advantage as they attempted to salt the game away with 1:39 left in regulation.
ALPENA, Mich. Great Lakes Divers partnered with Great Lakes, Great Responsibility to remove trash at Rockport State Park today. The goal was to pick up one million pieces of trash in an effort to keep Rockport State Park safe and clean. Great Lakes Diver, Stephanie Gandulla, said the lakes face many issues and said her bag was filled with single use plastics.
One of the young divers, Samantha Coleman, said she enjoys the adventure and exploring of diving but she emphasized the importance of being responsible and placing your trash in the appropriate places when visiting parks and beaches.
Commercial Diver, Megan Mainville, said she does hard-hat diving and said there is no experience like this.

Great Lakes Divers and Great Lakes, Great Responsibility hosted an inaugural holiday cleanup dive on Tuesday, called the Santa Splash to Pick Up Trash. Divers and beach walkers met at Rockport State Recreation Area north of Alpena for an afternoon of diving in and cleaning up.
