Officers say they are still investigating what led to his disappearance and now death. ORIGINAL: Officials are investigating a decomposed body found in a field in Chubbuck. The Bannock County Sheriff s Office received a call around 4:30 p.m. Saturday that land surveyors working near the southeast end of Nelson Lane in Chubbuck had found a body. Sheriff Tony Manu told Local News 8 the body is too badly decomposed to immediately tell the person s gender. His office is the only agency currently investigating the incident.

Karl Lockhart was 32 when he was reported missing last June, according to Chubbuck Chief of police Bill Guiberson. Lockhart’s remains were found by a group of surveyors in a field near North Nelson lane north of Chubbuck in Bannock County Saturday afternoon. Although Lockhart had been missing for nearly 10 months, and his body was found in a state of decomposition, it is unlikely that he has been in the field for anywhere near that amount of time, Bannock County Sheriff Tony Manu said.

Police release identity of woman found in canal in Chubbuck Published Police release identity of woman found in canal in Chubbuck CHUBBUCK, Idaho (KIFI) UPDATE 5/18/21: Chubbuck Police have released an update to a case from May 15 regarding a deceased adult female located near the intersection of Hiline Rd and New Day Parkway in the irrigation canal. On Monday, the Ada County Coroners Office completed an autopsy, and the deceased was positively identified as 30-year-old Samantha Bear of Fort Hall. The autopsy revealed there were no obvious signs of trauma to her body, and at this point, foul play is not suspected in her death; however, police are still awaiting the results of a toxicology report which could be several weeks.
