ISLAMABAD: Dr. Muhammad Tariq has been appointed Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe Division vice Dr. Aman Rashid, who has moved to Mexico as the country’s new ambassador.
Well-placed diplomatic sources Friday told The News that the Foreign Office will experience fresh shuffling in a couple of weeks with the posting of new Special Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
It is likely that Pakistan’s former ambassador for Afghanistan Zahid Nasarullah Khan will be posted as Special Secretary, as Dr. Aman Rashid who was holding the office has vacated the seat. Pakistan’s outgoing ambassador for Mexico Tasawar Khan Lodhi, who is attaining superannuation, has returned. He earlier served as Chief of Protocol in the Foreign Office.

President Arif Alvi stresses enhanced Pakistan-Mexico ties

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has asked the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Mexico Dr. Aman Rashid to make concerted efforts for the promotion of relations with Mexico in diverse fields including trade, investment, culture, tourism, and education.
In a meeting with the ambassador-designate at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Friday, the president said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Mexico and wants to further expand cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
The president highlighted that the government is focusing on increasing trade and investment with all Countries and stressed the need to increase bilateral trade volume with Mexico.

On December 29, 2020 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Andrei Metelitsa, met the Special Secretary for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Aman Rashid.
The Sides exchanged information on the state and prospects for the development of relations between Minsk and Islamabad. In this context, specific ways towards enhancing Belarusian-Pakistani cooperation were discussed.
During the negotiations, a particular attention was paid to the forthcoming significant bilateral events, including high level visits, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, inter-parliamentary meetings, sessions of specialized commissions, working groups on industry, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

ISLAMABAD: Special Secretary Foreign Affairs Dr. Aman Rashid has been appointed Pakistan’s ambassador for Mexico with immediate effect.
Dr Aman will be replacing Tasswar Khan, who has been asked to return to the headquarters before attaining superannuation. Tasswar Khan has completed his tenure in Mexico.
Dr. Aman Rashid, who has been looking after Europe Affairs in the Foreign Office, earlier served as ambassador in Switzerland and the Philippines at different times during this decade.
Meanwhile, well-placed sources told The News Saturday that the Foreign Office is reluctant to appoint the senior most diplomat Zahid Nasrullah to a slot befitting his seniority. He is a grade-22 Foreign Service officer who is on a par in seniority with the foreign secretary and returned from Afghanistan early this year after completing his successful tenure. The peace talks in Afghanistan were initiated during his presence.
