The time has come for the citizens of Lesotho and South Africa to take hands and act against criminals surreptitiously crossing the border between the two countries.
This was according to Francois Wilken, president of Free State Agriculture (FSA), following a recent meeting between representatives of both countries on the matter.
The meeting was held in Zastron and attended by FSA, Sam Mashinini (Free State MEC of Police, Roads and Transport), farmers from both sides of the border, both countries’ police services and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).

The ANC provincial executive committee (PEC) in the Free State has withdrawn its request to the Constitutional Court to set aside the Supreme Court of Appeal ruling that declared its election in 2018 unlawful and unconstitutional.
The decision to appeal by the PEC, through chairperson Sam Mashinini, raised eyebrows this week because the ANC national working committee (NWC) had made clear it preferred a “political solution”.
The NWC appointed former president Kgalema Motlanthe to “lead engagements aimed at building a united structure in the province”.
It appears the PEC was reined in by the ANC national officials, and TimesLIVE has seen a letter by ANC Free State secretary Paseka Nompondo to Moroka Attorneys informing them of the decision to withdraw the appeal.
The Free State ANC PEC will withdraw its SCA appeal.
Disgruntled ANC members in the Free State say Ace Magashule and Sam Mashinini must be brought before the party s disciplinary committee.
The office of the ANC provincial secretary has vowed to call the shots from now on.
The already under pressure Free State ANC provincial executive committee (PEC) has made a U-turn by withdrawing its appeal to a Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) ruling.
The PEC wanted the Constitutional Court to set aside an SCA judgment which found that the 2018 election of the PEC in the Free State was unlawful.
