No one knows for sure, however, what affect the Hickford inquiry – that has come to be known as farmgate – will have on the minds of voters when they make their choices.
Fenland is critical to continued success for the party – it returned nine councillors, all Conservatives, for the eight divisions in 2017.
It includes the division of March North, the seat of council leader Steve Count, and that of Roman Bank where Simon King, eased out of Fenland Council by the Tory group over an expenses scandal, is clinging onto his political ambitions.
Wisbech itself may also offer an insight into how well independents fare with former Conservative turned independent Andy Maul taking on Steve Tierney.

Cllr Patrick said: “That is unfair and unjust. It is my job as an elected member to ask questions that I believe are pertinent and proper given the proposed expenditure and previous situations that have arisen.
“I have at no point indicated, as yet, that I do not support the proposal in principle.

Public toilets at a Fenland town bus station could soon re-open if town councillors give the go-ahead to plans drawn up by their clerk and the council leader.
Wisbech Town Council clerk, Terry Jordan, has written to members asking for their views following negotiations with New River Retail, owners of the Horsefair Shopping Centre.
Toilets at the centre have been closed for sometime as a result of ongoing anti-social behaviour problems and the cost of repairs.
Drug taking and anti-social behaviour forced the closure of the Horsefair toilets - now Wisbech Town Council is considering taking them over.
Land deals, utility agreements and design issues spell delays for Wisbech junction upgrades

Upgrades to three busy junctions including Broad End Road on the A47 in Wisbech have been delayed for a variety reasons it has been revealed.
Land purchases, negotiations with utility companies and design issues have been blamed for the delays according to Cambridgeshire County council which is working on schemes to improve the local highway network, known as the Wisbech Access Strategy .
