Kappes, White lead Pacers at Rising Sun Invite
The Switzerland County boys and girls varsity track teams participated in the Rising Sun Invitational last Thursday night, May 6th.
The Lady Pacers earned second place overall just seven points out of the championship; while the Pacers finished in fifth place.
“We had many personal records, and the excitement of our 400-meter relay girls getting in the hand with a rouge discus throw during their first hand off of the relay,” Coach Meganmarie Dennis said. “They continued on to still place second in the relay.”
For the girls:
• In the 1,600-meter run: Gracie White won the event and Alisha Detmer finished third.

It was a rainy night in the area last Thursday, but Switzerland County High School still hosted the annual Vevay Media Group Invitational track meet to impressive performances and outstanding achievements.
Along with the Pacers, the meet featured Southwestern, Milan, Rising Sun, Shawe Memorial, Lawrenceburg, and Jac-Cen-Del.
In the girls meet, Switzerland County finished second overall with 108 points, trailing champion Lawrenceburg, which tallied 111 points.
Jac-Cen-Del was third with 79; followed by Southwestern with 71, Rising Sun with 36, Shawe Memorial with 28; and Milan with 27.
• In the 3,200-meter relay, the Lady Pacer team of Cheyenne Wick, Angela Garrett, Dakota Richards, and Miranda Earls finished third with a time of 14:53.81.
Track teams participate at Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn Invites
The Switzerland County girls and boys varsity track teams participated in two big invitationals last week.
Lawrenceburg
Last Tuesday night the Pacers traveled to Lawrenceburg for the Tiger Relays, and the girls team placed second overall while the boys earned third place.
For the girls:
• Gracie White earned first place in the 1,600-meter run; and she also won the 400-meter dash. White also was a part of the 1,600-meter relay team that finished first; and the 3,200-meter relay team that finished second.
• Raylinn Kappes won the 200-meter dash; and finished second in the 100-meter dash. She was a member of the 400-meter relay team that won its event; and the winning 1,600-meter relay team.
