HUNDREDS of children are going to wake up on Christmas Day with a present thanks to the generosity of everyone in west Wiltshire who responded to the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal which has been supported by the Wiltshire Times. Around 3,000 toys and other gifts have been donated to the Salvation Army’s Toy Appeal this year. That phenomenal response is double the amount of last year and will help the Salvation Army to give presents to so many more families in need this Christmas. The Salvation Army’s Territorial Envoy and Trowbridge church leader Michala Lancefield said they had received an “amazing response” to this year’s appeal and had been overwhelmed by people’s generosity.

Thanks to the appeal, hundreds of toys, games and books have been distributed to families in need in whose children would otherwise wake up to no gifts under the tree on Christmas Day. Each year the Salvation Army collects donated new toys for children from birth to aged 16.
