Sen. Win Stoller (R-Peoria) recently visited Rochelle for the first time since redistricting made the Hub City region a part of part of the 37th District. Stoller said he wanted to make connections there.
James Thomas Morris Prest, known as Jim to his friends and family, passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on January 13, 2023. He was 93 years old. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1929 to George Prest and Jane Wilder Prest. Jim graduated from Shattuck Military School where he won the “pluggers prize,” and in 1952, he graduated from Amherst College. After college, he worked for the OSS in Washington D.C., but was soon drafted into the army. However, the army sent him back to D.C. to continue his work as a “code breaker.”
As of Dec.19 the organization was around the $48,000 mark. Maj. Paul Ferguson said the lower total can be linked to the weather and possibly inflation.
This year, the Grand Forks Salvation Army is aiming to raise $40,000. On Tuesday, Nov. 22, people can help by visiting Grand Forks Valley Dairy locations at 4701 S. Washington St. and 1220 University Ave. to get their gas tanks filled by volunteers.
