A story recounting the Christmas experience of prisoners in Sligo Jail by a local writer is among 75 stories published in a new book. The book ‘Christmas and the Irish’ is a collection of 75 stories contributed by different writers from all around Ireland. It examines the celebration of Christmas among the Irish from the seventh century to the present day. It reflects on what Christmas has meant to Irish people through the ages, whether living at home or abroad.
