o hare airplane crippled by the winter blast and hundreds of flights cancelled there creating delays all across the country. conditions aren t much better in ohio. windchills in the cleveland area well below zero this morning. a foot of snow on the ground in some areas and driving dangerous. a layer of ice under you will of that snow causing spin outs and accidents all over ohio. in pennsylvania, worker was killed when a 100-foot pile of salt used to clear the icy roads fell on top of it and it happened at a storage facility in philadelphia hours before the storm system hit. rescue crews tried to save the man but not clear what caused the salt pile to tip. troubling reports out of libya. two u.s. authorities allegedly scouting at the university of bengha benghazi. two were found shot to death near an oiler terminal west of
a dusting overnight, early this morning. it has stopped now, a long pause before the real storm finally hits us. we re forecasting those 6 to 8 inches here in new york city, but it won t start until later this evening. that said, we re talking about a city with 8 million people. 8 inches of snow can wreak a lot of havoc. the planning is certainly under way, well in advance of the flakes beginning to fall. it started around 7:00 this morning at the department of sanitation. we re starting to see the salt pile dwindling as almost 400 salt trucks have been going on the roads. this is a big test for new york city s new mayor, bill de blasio. he has good backup here, the commissioner for the department of sanitation, the officer of emergency management, and the fire department, those commissioners have all stayed in place. you have a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge in place to help city weather the storm that again is going to really hit us later today. it s going to be even wo
