The project funds were given to the local government unit in Opol City to benefit Barangay Cauyonan, where indigenous people who have limited access to quality healthcare services, are living and where there is high prevalence of poverty.
“To empower the marginalized community, DOST-Misamis Oriental and LGU-Opol partnered to introduce two projects that focus on the livelihood, health, and nutrition components of Barangay Cauyonan,” the DOST said in a statement.
Under the program, two projects are set to be implemented. The first project is the “CEST Support for the Development of Moriculture and Sericulture Farms and Establishment of Banana Food Processing Facility in Brgy. Cauyonan, Opol, Misamis Oriental – D2”, which seeks to assist the Cauyonan Farmers Association (CFA).
