Banga â An Indomitable Lion to watch
Some weeks ago, few Cameroonians knew his name. But now, the hopes of the host country of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) rest on this central defender who turned prolific scorer of the
Indomitable Lions.
Salomon Banga Bindjeme is the new Cameroonian fansâ favorite. The young Coton Sport de Garoua midfielder is the only Cameroonian player to have found the net in CHAN 2020 group stage, and he did so twice.
His first goal, a bicycle kick against Zimbabwe was the tournamentâs opener, and paved way for the second against Mali in the second match.
CHAN Off to Explosive Start
January 18, 2021
The African Nations Championship got off to an explosive start on and off the field in Cameroon over the weekend.
On Saturday, the host nation beat Zimbabwe 1-0 in the opening match in Yaounde, but two days earlier, a bomb exploded outside the Limbe Omnisport Stadium, where Namibia is scheduled to play its matches.
According to goal.com there were no fatalities, but several vehicles were destroyed, while the local Fako Action Forces (FAF) claimed responsibility for the explosion.
According to the Cameroonian News Agency, attempts were also made to burn the walls of the stadium, while FAF issued a statement warning that Limbe, which forms part of the Fako region, will not be safe.

In the second game of Group A, Mali opened with a 1-0 win over their West African counterparts Burkina Faso.
As the scoreline was the same as the Cameroon one, Mali’s goal was also scored almost at the same time as when the Indomitable Lions found the back of the net.
Siaka Bagayoko scored the goal in the 70th minute as his header was enough to settle the encounter in Yaounde.
Cameroon and Mali are now tied at the top ahead of the second group games.
The Confederation of African Football have confirmed to Goal that they are looking into Zimbabwe’s accusations of witchcraft levelled at Chan hosts Cameroon.
