The seven Revolutionary War dioramas adorning the walls of the shuttered Macy’s at Neshaminy Mall may soon find new home as the Bensalem Historical Society and Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo work to save these pieces of township and American history.
The array of large hand-crafted, three-dimensional scenes illustrate the moving of the Liberty Bell to keep it away from approaching British forces; William Penn’s purchase of land from Native Americans; ambassador Benjamin Franklin winning crucial colonial support from the French; the signing of the Declaration of Independence; George Washington and his troops surviving a hard winter at an encampment at Valley Forge; Washington crossing of the Delaware River; and the Battle of Germantown.
