Opinion: Laughter at first sight
Rick Dominy
For a few months I’ve been working on an entertaining speech about the famous comedy team of Abbott and Costello. One thing I wanted to do in this speech was pick out three of their best movies that I would give summaries of and encourage everyone to watch.
Deciding which three was hard, but a picture I found in a book of actress Mary Wickes with Abbott and Costello from the 1942 movie Who Done It? helped me make one of my choices.
In this picture, Mary who was tall and thin was holding Lou Costello’s jacket lapel with her left hand and looking down at him with a funny look on her face while Lou who was short and fat had one arm around her waist and was looking back up at her.
