Holiday cheer arrived on foot last Wednesday when a group of about 30 elementary and middle school children, parents, and members of the city's Housing and Human Services Committee, Sally's Fund staffers, and newly elected City Councilmember Alex Rounaghi caroled at the Vista Aliso Apartments. The seniors who live in the gated, 71-unit low-income senior housing complex on Wesley Drive waved from their balconies, sang along, and accepted candy canes from youngsters.
On Love Laguna Day Nov. 19, volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work on a variety of projects around Laguna Beach. Some of the projects included painting the outdoor furniture at Susi Q, helping out at the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter, washing the popular blue city trolleys, painting the gazebo at Heisler Park, making homemade greeting cards, cleaning up at Main Beach and organizing the supply room at the Friendship Shelter.
The Laguna Beach City Chambers was standing room only, with some left to only peer through the outside windows as residents gathered to honor Councilmember Toni Iseman's extraordinary 24 years of public service to the City of Laguna Beach during the Nov. 15 council meeting.
Sally's Fund, a Laguna Beach nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable transportation to the city's seniors, plans to begin providing services for individuals with disabilities.
