Reader Ride: Wayne Tanner s 1940 Chevrolet coupe
Andy Fillmore
Wayne Tanner s ruby red 1940 Chevrolet two-door coupe combines modern running gear and creature comforts with the classic early 1940s automotive body style he loves.
Tanner, 56, spotted the beautifully restored and updated Chevy at an antique auto dealership in St. Augustine about a year ago and decided it was the ride for him. I almost didn t get it because another potential buyer came along (before the deal was finalized) and tried to purchase it. The other party argued with the dealer but he wouldn t let him have it,” Tanner said.
Tanner and his wife, Sallie, have enjoyed numerous rides and won trophies at car shows since they brought the car home.
