KUANTAN, Jan 16 The road to the resort area in Fraser’s Hill via Raub, 240 kilometres from here, has been closed since two days ago to all vehicles due to fear of landslides if the weather is bad.
Raub district police chief, Supt Kama Azural said that only security and health teams were allowed to use the route for emergencies after securing the permission of the police.
KUANTAN (Jan 10): The Pahang state government has allocated RM11 million to help in the daily needs of flood victims, especially those housed in temporary evacuation centres (PPS), said Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
He said the amount included an additional allocation of RM8 million approved at the state executive council meeting on Friday, taking into account the current floods situation. The total amount of RM11 million this year is the second highest, after the catastrophic floods in 2014/2015 involving about 100,000 victims, which amounted to RM57 million. The additional allocation channelled to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) is expected to help it (the department) to continue to look after the welfare of flood victims, he said in a statement here today.

Helicopter flies in supplies to Jerantut flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR – The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) today arranged for an EC725 AP helicopter from its 10th Squadron to have food supplies and basic necessities delivered to flood victims in two areas in Jerantut, Pahang.
The RMAF in a statement said in the operation, one tonne of food supplies from the Social Welfare Department was flown to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Bantal and Orang Asli settlements around the district.

“The aircraft and crew departed from Kuantan Air Base at 2 pm and returned safely after completing the assignment at 4.45 pm.
“The helicopter was manned by Maj Muhammad Uwais Md Zain, who was assisted by co-pilot Capt Azfar Adzahar and air quartermasters, FSjn Suhaimi Othman and FSjn Mohd Zulhilmi Samad,” said the statement.
