It isn’t uncommon to see parents and their children at Mexican markets walking down the aisles speaking Mixteco, Triqui, Chatino or any of the other indigenous languages of Mexico.
Robert “Bob” H. Piestewa Ames, a trailblazing Hopi Indian, first Native American Stanford Law School graduate, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at his Salinas, CA home on Dec. 5, 2023, at the age of 94.
Both Salinas City Elementary School District and Alisal Union School District saw a bump in the percentage of students who met or exceeded grade level standards in math – about a 1.5% increase for Salinas City and a little over 2% increase for Alisal Union.
