Hustle Kindness: Saw this message on a car at Ohio & Iron. It was a strong juxtaposition of words. If you’re going to be a hustler, this is the way to go. It’s a movement that started in Texas and has taken off. Reminded me of Salina Shares or Love Salina, and it has interactive energy. There should be an urgency about being kind, a wake up in the morning mission that makes it for more and more of us. Come on, let’s hustle some human kindness.

Giving warmth with the Salina Scarfs Project

Those recently driving in downtown Salina and near school zones may have noticed gloves, scarfs and other winter items hanging from light post, bus stop benches and school fences.
These items are a part of the Salina Scarfs Project, aimed at filling a continuous need, said executive director Debbie Rivers.
Salina Shares has produced the Scarf Project the past five years, collecting hundreds of items year round to give away during the winter months to help keep people warm.
“Now that we have a downtown office, we have a lot more people coming in and we want to be aware of colder days and mindful of our neighbors,” Rivers said.
