Coronavirus vaccines are available across New Jersey even as the distribution of the single-shot Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine remains paused throughout the United States.

Nearly 2 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated with more on track to get the shot soon, as Gov. Phil Murphy announced earlier this week that all New Jersey residents ages 16 and older will be eligible for the vaccine beginning April 19.
The latest eligibility expansion prefigured President Joe Biden’s announcement that all adults must be eligible for the vaccination in all states by April 19, almost two full weeks earlier than his original deadline of May 1.

The state’s largest nurse and health care worker union filed 24 complaints over employee safety violations during the pandemic, and will seek a larger role through contract negotiations in determining how hospitals, nursing homes and other health care employers respond to emergencies, its president said.
HPAE, Health Professionals and Allied Employees learned a lot over the last year, namely, “We were not prepared at all for any pandemic or crisis situation and we need to have worker input,” HPAE President Debbie White said.

Monday marked the first of two expansions this month of those who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Those in groups eligible for the vaccine starting Monday include transportation workers and several other groups who can now schedule shots, though appointments remain hard to get.
