Israel/OPT: Scrap plans to forcibly evict Palestinian families in Silwan - occupied Palestinian territory

Israel the oppressor — Part I - Daily Times

Daily Times May 26, 2021 Symbolically, expressing concern for the unthinkable Israeli atrocities against the Palestinians seems a fait accompli to the rest of the international community, including the Muslim Ummah, who remains helpless in countering an iniquitous Israeli agenda. Current events in occupied East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip strongly endorse that Israel is constantly practicing a policy of repression/ military brinkmanship in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). Democrat US lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has called Israel an apartheid state. In a recent tweet, she said, ‘’If the Biden admin can’t stand up to an ally, who can it stand up to? “She added: “Apartheid states aren’t democracies.”

Israeli court delays ruling on expulsion of families in Silwan

Occupied East Jerusalem – An Israeli court has postponed its decision on an appeal lodged by Palestinian families facing forced displacement from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem’s Silwan district. The appeal was against an Israeli court verdict in 2020, which okayed the expulsion of seven Palestinian families in order for Jewish settlers to move into the predominantly Arab district – part of the Israeli policy to build settler homes in occupied East Jerusalem, which is seen by Palestinians as their future capital. “This policy of forcible expulsion has been going on for decades to push out the Palestinians in neighbourhoods in occupied East Jerusalem [to make way for] settlers…” said Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid, speaking outside the Israeli magistrate court in Salahadin Street in East Jerusalem, where dozens of Palestinians had gathered to protest.

Israel/OPT: Scrap plans to forcibly evict Palestinian families in Silwan

25 May 2021, 15:29 UTC Ahead of an appeal hearing at the Jerusalem District Court on 26 May over the forced eviction of two Palestinian families in the Batn al-Hawa area of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Saleh Higazi said: “This is yet another illustration of Israel’s criminal policy of forced displacement of Palestinians in motion. “By continuing to pursue this court case - after the outcry over the planned forced evictions in Sheikh Jarrah in occupied East Jerusalem – Israel is fanning the flames of the latest upsurge in violence and perpetuating the same systematic human rights violations against Palestinians that are at the root of the latest violence.
