The last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan began with good news in Jerusalem.
In the morning, due to pressure from the Prime Minister’s Office, far-right lawmaker Itamar Ben-Gvir of Religious Zionism removed the makeshift office he had set up Thursday in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, across from the home of several Palestinian families facing imminent eviction. Later, tens of thousands of Muslims from Israel and the West Bank gathered for midday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, or the Temple Mount, as it’s know to Jews, and dispersed peacefully.
