PHOTO: EXPRESS LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said timely completion of development schemes is important to facilitate the citizens and the sustained monitoring will ensure efficiency and transparency. “The menace of corruption, in development projects, is a thing of the past and no one will be allowed any wrongdoing now because development schemes are executed through hard earned money of the people.” Buzdar made these remarks while speaking to ministers and parliamentarians at his office on Monday. Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ejaz Alam, Punjab Energy Minister Muhammad Akhtar Malik, MNA Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari and MPAs Mahindar Pall Singh, Saleem Akhtar and Ghulam Ali Asghar were present on the occasion and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Pakistan calls for restraint from Iran and South Korea over seizure of tanker

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday urged South Korea and Iran to exercise restraint amid fears that a maritime dispute between the two countries could escalate. Seoul has moved military forces close to the Strait of Hormuz after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized a South Korean-flagged oil tanker on Monday. The Hankuk Chemi, with 20 crew members on board, was traveling from Saudi Arabia to the UAE when it was intercepted and taken to the port of Bandar Abbas. While officials in Seoul said they are pursuing a diplomatic solution to the crisis, the South Korean navy’s destroyer, Choi Young, arrived in the area on Tuesday.

AFP RAWALPINDI: Nine localities in the district were placed under smart lockdown on Friday after the number of patients in these areas increased in the last two weeks. Besides, eight people lost their battle against Covid-19 in the twin cities. According to the district administration spokesperson, six areas fall in Rawalpindi, two in Taxila and one in Kallar Syedan. The areas are Street No. 7 in Muslim Town, street nos 6 and 8 in Chaklala Scheme-III, street nos 10 and 19 in Airport Housing Scheme, New Morgah Road, Street No. 2 in Zaman Colony, Allahabad, Gulshan Khursheed on Karamabad Road, Jaba Kanoha Village in Kallar Syedan, Kohsar Colony in Taxila and Street No. 4 in Gulistan Colony in Wah Cantonment.
