Dec 16, Colombo: Defense Secretary and Chairperson of ‘Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force’ (PTF) for Eastern Province Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne reviewed the progress of the Deegawapi Stupa restoration project.
Presiding over a meeting convened at the Defense Ministry with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) members and the stakeholder institutions Wednesday (Dec 16), Major General Gunaratne expressed his concern over few key features of the task. Major General Gunaratne reviewed the avenues of manufacturing of Standard Bricks for Stupa restoration, reassembly of Sacred Stone-Paved Precincts (Salapathala Maluwa), refurbishment of Alms Giving Hall (Dana Shalawa) and the setting of Pilgrims Rest.
