The Rang Ghar is one of the 55 centrally protected historical sites to be shut
GUWAHATI: A total of 55 centrally protected monuments and sites, including the historic Rang Ghar and Gaurisagar tank in Sivasagar district, and one museum in Assam, have been shut for visitors till May 15 or until further orders by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) following the rise in Covid-19 positive cases across the state.
“The sites were opened for visitors in December last year after Covid-19 positive cases went down in the state. These have been again shut by the ASI to prevent the spread of the virus,” Salam Shyam Singh, assistant archeologist, ASI (Guwahati circle), said.
