The United Nations Support Mission in Libya released a list of 45 candidates to join the new transitional executive authority, comprised of the Presidential Council and prime minister positions.
“The Mission extends its heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of the three-person verification committee, drawn from the membership of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), to review the candidates’ applications in line with the eligibility criteria consensually agreed upon by the LPDF in Tunis,” it said in a statement on Saturday.
“All candidates pledged to respect the LPDF Roadmap with regard to the preparatory period paving the way for the holding of national elections on December 24, 2021,” it added.

Libya has witnessed a flurry of developments in recent days, capped on Thursday with Government of National Accord (GNA) chief Fayez al-Sarraj’s surprise visit to Rome – his second in a month.
Italian media noted that the two-day visit was supposed to have been a formal trip.
Sarraj was then expected to then travel to Turkey, a main backer of the GNA.
A delegation of his senior military officials had arriving in Turkey before him for expanded security talks. It includes Defense Minister Salah al-Namroush, Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha, High Council of State chief Khalid al-Mishri, head of the intelligence agency Emad al-Trabulsi, and 16 militia leaders.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has concluded its third visit to Libya on Wednesday to investigate the crimes committed in the country by the militia of General Khalifa Haftar.
According to a statement issued by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The team of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has completed its third visit to Libya, as part of documenting crimes committed against civilians.

TRIPOLI – The successive statements issued by the Minister of Defence in the Government of National Accord, Salah El-Din al-Namroush, indicate that, for all practical intents and purposes, he has become Ankara’s man in Libya, in light of the differences between Turkey and the Libyan Justice and Construction Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood organisation in the country.
