Target apologizes after three Black teens wrongfully detained at California store KATE FELDMAN Three Black teenagers were handcuffed and detained at a California Target, wrongfully accused of shoplifting. Now, the security guard has been fired and Target has apologized. Malik Aaron, Aaron Frederickson and Greg Kim, all 16 or 17, were buying snacks at the Westlake Village Target after their weekly high school ministry at Calvary Community Church last weekend when they were stopped by a store employee who had seen a group of Black men shoplifting iPhones. The teens tried to leave, Aaron’s mother, La Shaun Aaron, told the Los Angeles Times, at which point employees used shopping carts to block the exits.
