MUMBAI: A head constable allegedly shot himself dead at Tulinj police station in Nalasopara (east) on Thursday morning.
Police said that at around 6.30am, constable Sakharam Bhoye (42) shot himself with his service revolver. The reason behind taking the extreme step is being ascertained.
Police said that his colleagues heard the gunshot and found him on the floor with the bullet injury. Senior police officers are at the police station.
The body has been sent for autopsy. Bhoye was working at Tulinj police station for the last four years. His family members are being questioned.
On Wednesday, a seminar on handling work pressure was held in Vasai for policemen by the newly formed Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV)Commissionerate.

In a shocking incident, a 41-year-old head constable attached to the Tulinj police station in Nallasopara allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service revolver inside the cabin of the senior police inspector on Thursday morning.
The deceased constable who has been identified as Sakharam Bhoye (41) was on night duty. According to sources, Bhoye took the extreme step in the restroom of the police inspectors cabin at around 8 am.
He was found in a pool of blood by his other on duty colleagues who rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained.
