The earthquake hit early morning on Tuesday 20 April 2021 at 1:13 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3 as well.

The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 1 km beneath the epicenter around noon on Monday 19 April 2021 at 12:13 pm local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.9 earthquake.

According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake hit on Sunday 18 April 2021 at 7:24 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by France s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), which listed it as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.9.
