The 2022 NCHSAA 4A football state championship game between undefeated Grimsley and unbeaten New Bern will take place this Friday. The game will kick off at 7:00 in Kenan Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
New Bern, one of Eastern North Carolina's storied football programs, is returning to the 4A state championship for the first time since 2014. The Bears had not been back since defeating Charlotte Catholic in that year's 4A title. In tonight's 4A Eastern regional final, New Bern held on to take down a great Millbrook team 35-27.
