Sporting long braids with red and white elements to match her outfit and the Japan national flag, second-seed Osaka stormed into a 5-0 lead in stamina-sapping heat at Ariake Tennis Park before wrapping up the first set in 32 minutes.

Viktorija Golubic (WTA 50) défiera bien Naomi Osaka (WTA 2) au 2e tour du tableau de simple des JO de Tokyo. La Japonaise a dominé Saisai Zheng (WTA 42) 6-1 6-4 dimanche au 1er tour.
Naomi Osaka, qui avait eu l honneur d allumer la vasque olympique vendredi lors de la cérémonie d ouverture, a parfaitement maîtrisé son sujet pour son retour aux affaires. Elle n a pas concédé le moindre break face à Saisai Zheng, s imposant après moins de 90 de jeu devant la Chinoise.
