AN army veteran has spoken of the fear he felt after he heard about the devastating volcano eruption in St Vincent, where much of his family including his 71-year-old mother are still living. Linton Edwards, alongside his wife, Shammeil Bascombe, and cousins Judonna and Ophelia Lewis, from Kendal, were born on the Caribbean island between St Lucia and Grenada. They still have many family members living there who have been severely impacted by the catastrophe. They have set up a GoFundMe page and are appealing for donations to help those badly affected by the disaster. La Soufrière first erupted on April 9, with a series of explosive episodes continuing to issue from the volcanic crater, as well as a stream of lava and bouts of acid rain hitting the island in the days following.
