Ascension Saint Thomas invests millions in Rutherford health since 2010

Ascension also will be opening a $16 million ambulatory surgery center in August on 3 acres near an existing Saint Thomas Medical Partners building offering health care services on New Salem Highway near St. Andrews Drive.  Saint Thomas purchased the 3 acres in 2018 for $1.5 million. The development will include two operating rooms and one procedure room that provides services closer to where many patients live. The 13,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center will include gastrointestinal, urology and general surgery services. The second floor of the building will house offices for Ascension Medical Group, as well as shell space to help accommodate growth.  Hospital Board Chairman Bill Jones is pleased with the healthcare growth and said it helps make Rutherford a more desirable community for people to live in and for companies to relocate to.

Tennessee addiction treatment companies join CMS demonstration

Tennessee-based addiction treatment companies ReVIDA Recovery Centers and Cedar Recovery have been selected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to participate in a four-year demonstration exploring new payments and delivery models in treating patients with opioid use disorder. The trial seeks to increase access to addiction treatment services and improve physical and mental outcomes for Medicare Fee-For-Service beneficiaries, according to CMS, while attempting to reduce expenditures for the safety-net payer. ReVIDA and Cedar Recovery will now receive two new Medicare payments for participating in the demonstration, including a per-beneficiary, per-month care management fee and a performance-based incentive payment.
