Supporters of the 1790 French Revolution congregated in Soulard on Saturday to partake in the 35th annual Bastille Day Parade & Beheading. The event began with a “gathering of the mob” outside of the Soulard Market followed by the “King” and “Queen” leading participants throughout the neighborhood. The Saint Boogie Brass Band performed as the “peasants” shouted “off with their heads” in between gathering refreshments at local bars and restaurants. The event culminated with a proclamation, and mock beheading of the French royalty.
