International Fund for Agricultural Development: Announcing the New Director, OPV December 7, 2014 The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) president made an announcement today. It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce that Perin Saint Ange, the current Director of the Eastern and Southern Africa Division (ESA), has agreed to become the Director of the Office of the President and Vice-President and Chief of Staff. Perin will take up his new responsibilities effective 1 February 2015. Perin has had a long and successful career, both within IFAD, FAO and in the external public and private sectors. Perin joined IFAD in 1998 as a Country Portfolio Manager in what was then the Africa I division, going on to become a Country Programme Manager and then a Loans Officer in the Office of the Controller. Outspoken former Seychelles Minister of Tourism Alain St. Ange is now leading  Saint Ange Consultancy and is concerned about his country slipping into a recession. Of course, St.Ange is a member of the current opposition party in Seychelles, but many see him as the most successful minister of tourism the Indian Ocean Region had. In his  8th edition of his Saint Ange Consultancy newsletter he starts his blog with a quote  from Winston Churchill. “You cannot reach your destination if you stop to throw stones at every dog that barks.” Whether the masses realize it yet or not, Seychelles is facing challenging economic times. Salwa Razzouk is Resort Manager at Raffles Seychelles

Edouard Grosmangin, General Manager at Raffles Seychelles moved this week to strengthen his Senior Management Team on the ground.  Mr Grosmangin who was himself bought in but months ago to reposition the 5 Star property of Praslin in the drive by Raffles to make their Seychelles property the leading resort of the island. Salwa Razzouk has now moved in as Resort Manager of Raffles Seychelles. Salwa has international experience having come initially from  Inter Continental Phoenicia Beirut – Lebanon where she was in charge of the IT support for the Finance department and was part of the Task Force in InterContinental Le Vendome  in May 2005.

BU theatre department’s “Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992” has been canceled Cancellation follows allegations of inappropriate racial casting, use of racial slurs The Binghamton University theatre department’s spring production of “Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992” has officially been canceled in response to student pushback. On Feb. 7, the Instagram account @weeseeyou binghamton made its first post, which raised concerns of “potentially inappropriate racial casting” and called for the cancellation of the production. According to the post, the play was originally a one-woman show written in response to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, which were sparked by the death of Latasha Harlins and the acquittal of four Los Angeles police officers after they had been caught on camera brutally beating Rodney King.
