Picture: REINAL CHAND Lautoka District Council of Social Services (DCOSS) volunteers last week distributed food ration packs to 60 families who were in need of food. Lautoka DCOSS representative Mesake Rokotabuivalu said they received requests for food packs from their members who were heavily involved in supporting government’s health screening efforts. “We have Lautoka DCOSS members who are out there in the community helping with COVID-19 contact tracing and health screening and when they come across a family or a household that is in desperate need of help, they inform us,” he said.

Picture: SUPPLIED Medical and non-medical personnel who are serving across the various quarantine containment, health, vaccination and other facilities in the country will each receive “frontline heroes gratitude packs”. The initiative is a collective approach between the Sai Prema Foundation Fiji and the New Zealand High Commission. Foundation director Sumeet Tappoo said they were thankful to all the frontline workers who were working tirelessly to protect Fiji. “It is important to stop and take time out to express our love and gratitude to our frontline heroes and thank them for their dedication and sacrifice,” he said.
