The agriculture department in Dakshina Kannada district has introduced new paddy seed varieties, including a high-yielding variety (HYV) option, to boost production. Farmers are concerned about rising prices of paddy seeds as they prepare for the kharif season. Sahyadri Kempumukti seeds have been introduced as an alternative to the Jyothi variety, known for its high yield. Government intervention is being sought to control seed prices and provide support to farmers.
