Today marks the 183rd birth anniversary of the Bengali writer, poet, journalist and writer of Indiaâs national song âVande Mataramâ, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee.
Popularly known as âSahitya Samratâ which means âEmperor of literatureâ in Bengali, Chatterjee was the one who modernised Bengali literature. Our national song was taken from his novel âAnandamathâ.
