A former San Jose State University athletic trainer was sentenced Tuesday to two years in federal prison for sexually abusing female athletes under the guise of providing medical treatment, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Scott Shaw faces up to 24 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to the violating the civil rights of two female athletes he inappropriately touched during treatments.
The case drew parallels to that of Larry Nassar, the disgraced former doctor who sexually abused female gymnasts under the guise of medical treatments.
