Two men have been arrested following a group fight in Harlow. Essex Police were called to reports of a fight between four men near The Hornbeams on Tuesday (April 27) at around 1.50pm. After searching the area, officers arrested two men aged 19 and 30, both from Harlow, on suspicion of affray. Both men received treatment in hospital for stab and slash wounds to their hands and elbows- however the force says that the injuries are not believed to be serious. They were released on bail until May 24 as enquiries continue. Essex Police then authorised additional stop-and-search powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 – which permitted officers to search 52 people and arrest three people.
Cllr Frances Mason passed away in the early hours Saturday, December 5. The 62-year-old was first elected to the district council in December 2018 and won re-election to serve Toddbrook in May of last year. The Labour councillor also worked on the Essex Police and Crime panel, Harlow Occupational Health Service, the Safer Harlow Partnership and was a member of the welfare panel. A spokesperson for Harlow Labour said: “Frances was a formidable intellect, a campaigner for equality and fairness, detailed in her approach and an unsurpassed hard worker. She had a great sense of humour. She was kind and her compassion shone through in everything she did.
