Staying safe at Penn State: A guide for new and returning students

During the first two weeks of in-person learning (Feb. 15 to Feb. 26), the University will conduct universal COVID-19 testing of all students who are taking in-person classes or who are taking a fully remote or online course load while living in Centre County or within a 20-mile radius of a Penn State campus outside of University Park.  Students should be on the lookout for an email sent to their Penn State email address to register for a time to get tested. At University Park, the tests will be administered seven days a week in Room 126 of the White Building. Testing site details at other Penn State campuses will be communicated directly to students.

Phone app brings safety to palm of UTPB students hands

UT Permian Basin is putting a 2021 spin on the term, “if you see something, say something.” Author: Tatum Guinn (News West 9) Published: 9:51 PM CST February 10, 2021 Updated: 9:05 AM CST February 11, 2021 ODESSA, Texas UT Permian Basin is putting a 2021 spin on the term, “if you see something, say something.” An advisory council applied that thought in choosing a new phone app that was recently activated on campus, geared at keeping all students, staff and faculty safe. It’s called LiveSafe. “We are putting safety into the hands of the students,” UTPB Police Lt. Brad Standerfer said. “It allows them to take control of their lives and allows them to submit anonymous tips, allows them to directly communicate with our dispatchers on campus.”

We Can Do The Work and Disarm OSU Respond - The Corvallis Advocate

We Can Do The Work and Disarm OSU Respond December 23, 2020   Trigger warning: Sexual Assault and Police Violence     On December 14th, OSU announced the appointment of Shanon Anderson as the new Police Chief and Vice President of Public Safety, following the brief appointment of Edgar Rodriguez. The appointment was announced just two weeks before the school intends to introduce its private, armed force to police the OSU Corvallis campus.    This appointment is yet another act of disregard and dismissal of community-led activism towards racial justice by OSU. Disarm OSU and the We Can Do The Work Campaign have been demanding the halt of OSU’s private police force formation since its announcement in April, with reallocation of Public Safety funding towards expansion of services that bolster the health and resilience of our community amidst a global pandemic.
