If Santa can be safe during the coronavirus pandemic, so can lions.
The Bridgewater Commons Mall welcomed dancers Sunday who performed the Lion Dance to welcome in the Chinese New Year.
“We wanted to bring back exciting performers at a safe distance,” Tom Kovacic, marketing director for the Bridgewater Commons Mall, said. “We want to bring back a sense of normalcy to Bridgewater Commons.”

ELLPORT Even Santa Claus has to be cautious about COVID-19.
But longtime local Santa for the Ellwood City area Mac McAnallen isn t about to let a virus stop him from giving a proper Christmas experience to local children.
Giving youngsters an opportunity to see and talk with Santa while still maintaining a safe distance, McAnallen is putting on the jolly old elf persona and sitting on his deck at 509 Golf Ave. in Ellport from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday and 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday to welcome all and their wish lists.

For parents of children who Still Believe, don’t be surprised if the reality of Covid-19 prompts questions, concerns, tears. Will he be safe? Will he still be able to travel if people are supposed to stay home?

There is comfort in traditions, and when children lose Santa they also leave behind a phase of childhood. 2020 has been difficult and scary for many people, and parents may want to hold onto tradition and childhood a little longer.
