KARACHI: A 37-year-old woman was shot dead in Quaidabad on Thursday, said police.
They added that four gunmen entered a home in Gulshan-i-Buner and opened indiscriminate fire in which Qamar Bibi was killed.
The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
The police said the victim hailed from Waziristan. Her husband was not home at the time of the incident.
Area SHO Safdar Brohi said the initial probe revealed that the murder was an outcome of “family dispute”.
Man stabbed to death
A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.
KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the killing of a Sindh University student in an alleged encounter in Sukkur after the incident sparked outrage on social media and opposition parties in the provincial assembly demanded a judicial inquiry.
Mohammed Irfan Jatoi was shot dead in a suspected encounter in Sukkur on Sunday. The police alleged that he was a “notorious dacoit” wanted in connection with several crimes. However, his friends and social media activists rejected the police claim and said that he was taken away by the law enforcers from SU on Feb 10 and they killed him in their custody after almost a month.
