Chairman Senate voices support for open ballots in Senate polls
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjarani has filed his reply in the Supreme Court and voiced his support of holding elections for the Upper House through open ballot.
According to details, Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has submitted his reply in the Supreme Court hearing of the Presidential reference regarding Senate elections. The reply said that transparent election of the Senate is in the national interest, therefore, Senate elections should be held through open ballot.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani in his reply said that all stakeholders are in agreement for holding the Senate elections in a transparent manner and the Committee of the Whole has also recommended having the name of the voter on the ballot paper.

A 12-member delegation of the African Union (AU) reached Pakistan on Tuesday on the invitation of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani to extend multilateral ties. The delegation, led by Djibouti National Parliament President and Acting Chairman of AU Muhammad Ali Houmed, was received by Senator Mirza Afridi and other Senate Secretariat officials at the New Islamabad International Airport. According to a press release issued by the Senate, the navel chief of Djibouti is also among the high-level delegation. PESHAWAR: A petitioner has requested the Peshawar High Court to stop the Senate chairman from presiding over the Upper House of Parliament until the final disposal of his pending petition against the last year’s vote of no confidence against the chairman and the deputy chairman.
Shahid Orakzai has filed an application with the high court in a pending petition seeking to declare unconstitutional the last year voting on the resolutions of no-confidence against the Senate chairman and deputy chairman and to order fresh voting on the said resolutions.

ISLAMABAD:
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani and Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla appear to be at odds over requisitioning of a session of the upper house of the parliament to discuss and admit a privilege motion moved by the latter against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities.
The opposition parties recently submitted a requisition notice to the Senate Secretariat seeking a Senate session to discuss several crucial political matters, including a resolution against alleged human rights violations being committed by NAB, among other things.
