Our Correspondent Imphal, July 13 (EMN): Imphal West district police recovered 136 kg of suspected opium (kani) worth around INR ten crores in the international market while checking a Rajasthan bound truck in Imphal. Disclosing this while addressing a hurriedly called press conference in Imphal on Tuesday morning, SP Ksh Shivakanta of Imphal West district informed that a major operation was carried out at Minuthong area around 6:30 pm based on specific information leading to the interception of the truck. Following all the formalities, the police team found one modified box type compartment on the bottom body of the vehicle, which was suspected to be concealing some items. Upon opening the iron cover of the modified box, around 131 packets of suspected opium (kani) packed in brown cello tape were found, while another seven packets were found concealed inside the front dashboard of the vehicle, Shivakanta said.
