Both not strong for bay area standards. But the reason why we all felt this earthquake across parts of the peninsula is the fact that it is 2. 9 miles deep. Thats extremely shallow. So a lot of the energy from the earthquake was able to spread out a lot further with this smaller earthquake. Now, again, as we mentioned, its right on the san andreas fault, which always brings us some concern here in the bay area there is a 21 chance of a 6. 7 quake over the next 30 years. So any time the san andreas starts to shake, it starts to get us concerned. So this, again, may seem like its overdoing it. But when there is an earthquake, you should always be prepared. Remember, drop, cover, and hold. Have a plan for your family, a place to meet, and why pay all the attention to the smaller earthquakes, even at 2. 9 magnitude . They may be a foreshock to something much larger. Were tracking the quakes all across california, and well let you me if anything larger happens. Thank you very much, jeff. Ha

With 20 pedestrian deaths recording in San Francisco. We have seen an unprecedented number of accidents along with enforcement and better infrastructure education is a need to prevent these injuries. Im hoping to get started the education piece within the next month or so. In district seven we wanted to do some pilot program. We are asking students in our Public Schools to participate as crossing guards. Right now there is two schools that have shown a strong interest and we are hoping to take it off. Why i was interested in doing that is really the education piece where you start educating children at a young age about what their responsibilities are, not only as a pedestrian but when they get older as a driver. So thats my attempt. And what we are finding out and maybe everybody might know this, but for people that dont know this, speed is responsible for 10 times the number of pedestrian injuries in San Francisco, more than driving under the influence. A lot of people think its abou
People think its about driving, but its speed. 60 percent of the injuries occur in intersection. Our public needs to be aware of this. Too often people are not yielding to oncoming pedestrians. We need a shift that will require everyone to Pay Attention to the streets. San francisco is ranked as having the highest total rates of fatalities and major injuries to pedestrians and bicyclist by both vehicle miles and by population. I know we can do better. We are a city that knows how to do things so lets get it done. This will call on the Transportation Authority to convene a working group of Pedestrian Safety advocates and lead the major county departments. Including the departments of Public Health, sf mta and San Francisco Police Department to develop and action plan. Within 90 days of this first meeting, an action plan of the Public Awareness campaign will be presented to the board. We have an unprecedented level of support coming from community members, the Mayors Office and the board
