Neighbors who live near the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail along Rio Linda Boulevard say encampments in the area have only gotten worse in recent years
The Sacramento City Council unanimously approved banning homeless encampments within 500 feet of schools. The city had already banned camps near colleges and other sites deemed critical infrastructure.
The city’s approved amendment would force the law to go into effect only after the city and county sign an agreement describing the county’s responsibilities to provide services to unhoused people.
