Date Time Reconciliation Week-celebrating Indigenous cultures across ranges National Reconciliation Week is being celebrated on 27 May – 3 June and Council is encouraging residents to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and traditions. Macedon Ranges Shire Council is on Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country. These Traditional Owners and Custodians have a living culture with distinct cultural and legal rights and an ongoing connection to this Country with obligations in its management and care. The Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung peoples continue to be active today, working to manage and care for Country and develop strong and resilient communities.

Road Maintenance Season Goes Above And Beyond

VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government’s latest road maintenance blitz has gone above and beyond, with more roads upgraded across regional Victoria than planned, supporting local jobs. The blitz has completed 110 per cent of its original goal to improve more than 1,800 kilometres of roads. Crews have been working tirelessly over the warmer months to upgrade the state’s roads – delivering safer and smoother journeys for every road user after regular reviews of roads across the state for potential hazards and defects and listening to motorists’ feedback. With more Victorians choosing to explore locally, the maintenance blitz ensures more reliable routes to some of the state’s most iconic tourist destinations like the Hepburn region, Phillip Island, coastal areas in the south west and the picturesque High Country.

Police are responding to fatal crash in Mount Macedon

Police are investigating a fatal crash in Mount Macedon this evening. Emergency services were called to Mount Macedon Road to reports a car had crashed into a tree about 8.45pm. A male driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
